| Vista Ultimate x64, Vista Home Premium 32bit. | Network shares without logging in? Sorry if this is a FAQ but I did some searching and didn't find articles describing my problem. I have a couple of Vista Desktops and 3 XP machines and 1 Win7 machine on my home network. I can gain access to all of the shares from any of the systems but the system that has the 1.5TB drive that I want to access most often from the other systems is a Vista x64 Ult system and I can't seem to gain access to the share unless I actually login to the system on the physical machine. This wasn't the case with XP so I am trying to decide if I need to configure "share on boot option" or something similar in the Control Panel? Once I actually login (to any account) on the Vista x64 system I have no problems accessing the shares, prior to that even if the machine has been booted up for hours I still fail to access the network shares. It is fine if Vista is supposed to do this due to a tighter security policy etc. but I am hoping there is a way to grant access w/ nobody logged in, since it is a hassle when I don't need the system up for any other reason that to access the shares. |

| | Re: Network shares without logging in? Hi You can set the computer to Auto logon to an account of your choice. Search the Internet for the term Vista Log On and choose the type of solution that fits your system. Jack (MS, MVP-Networking).
