| | Vista File Explorer and SharePoint Sites It used to be possible with Windows XP to see my SharePoint sites via the File Explorer. Though I'm able to see them when I do file operations in Office 2007, I can't figure out any way to do so via the Vista File Explorer itself. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is it possible to see an Explorer view of my SharePoint sites without having to do so from within Office 2007? Thanks for any help anyone can offer. jl |

| | Re: Vista File Explorer and SharePoint Sites Try this.. - Open My Computer - Right Click -> Add a Network Location - Next - Choose a custom network location - Enter a sharepoint site as copied from IE: http://site/library/stuff/default.aspx - Remove the pagefrom the URL in this example "default.aspx" click next -- Josh You never know what you might learn - http://windowsconnected.com "jlitvak" <jlitvak@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B1122974-4A7C-40B7-930A-3EB832E51576@microsoft.com... > It used to be possible with Windows XP to see my SharePoint sites via the > File Explorer. | | Re: Vista File Explorer and SharePoint Sites I have a sharepoint site hosted with http://www.frontpages-web-hosting.net/ and when I enter something like this url: http://site/library/stuff/ for my site I get this error: "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another." Has anyone gotton the "Add Network Location" wizard to actually work with a sharepoint site??? -I think microsoft rolled out vista without this basic capability and that is why no one is addressing the error message I keep seeing and that I have read that other people are having. -Nice job microsoft, vista cannot even do "network places" right anymore!!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Josh" wrote: > Try this.. > > > > - Open My Computer > > - Right Click -> Add a Network Location > > - Next > > - Choose a custom network location > > - Enter a sharepoint site as copied from IE: > http://site/library/stuff/default.aspx > > - Remove the pagefrom the URL in this example "default.aspx" click next > > > -- > Josh > > > You never know what you might learn - http://windowsconnected.com > > "jlitvak" <jlitvak@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:B1122974-4A7C-40B7-930A-3EB832E51576@microsoft.com... > > It used to be possible with Windows XP to see my SharePoint sites via the > > File Explorer. I was able to add my WSS 2.0 hosted site but when I try adding the WSS 3.0 site i get the same error. This is really frustrating because the only reason I upgraded to WSS 3 was so I could take advantage of Groove 2007 and Sharepoint. Apparently the sharepoint tool in groove is only compatible with wss 3.0. What is the problem here? |
