Cisco VPN 4.8.01.0590 on Vista RTM can connect, but no ping

I can successfully connect to my VPN through Cisco VPN Client 4.8.01.0590 on
the Vista RTM, but cannot ping any nodes on either the VPN network or
Internet. In the networking and sharing center, the VPN network is shown as
a private network with local only access, and my ISP network is shown as a
public network with limited connectivity. VPN DNS info is correct, but I
cannot ping the DNS server. I have been able to get this to work before by
mucking around with Windows firewall and/or Vista network settings, but
couldn't pin down what it was that got it working. Any ideas? Thanks.

Same here, it is random, mostly not working at all, sometimes it connects
but will not allow ping, sometimes everything works fine.
Of course it worked fine for a week or so, at first...
