Vista - Network File Sharing

I just bought a new computer with Vista Home Premium installed and have
connected it to my router in order to transfer files from old computer to the
to new. The old computer is running XP and is also connected to the router.
I have set up a private network in Vista and changed the workgroup name on
my XP computer to be "WORKGROUP" in order to agree with the Vista computer. I
have also installed the LLTD protocold on the XP computer. I have turned
network discovery, file sharing and public sharing on and also confirmed that
file and printer sharing are enabled on the network devices in each machine.
Here is my progress so far.:
1. The XP computer does not even appear in the network map on the Vista
computer
2. The Vista Computer is seen by the XP machine, but when I click on it I
get the following message: \\destop2 is not accessible. You may not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this
server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not
found.

I would really appreciate any help with this.

Can you ping each other by IP? If not, check the firewall or any security software first. Or these post may help,

Thanks Robert - After spending many hours on this, I finally did check
security settings in Norton, which came installed on the new computer. When I
disabled Norton Firewall and Intrusion detection all was well and I am busy
copying files. I can also see and share with both computers from my old '98
laptop.

I have a similar problem as Jim. I am trying to connect to the printer on the
XP computer but Vista cant find the printer. I go to browse & I see both
computers but when I try to access the XP computer I am told "\\xxxxxx is not
accessible. You may not have permission to use this network resource. Contact
the administrator of this
server to find out if you have access permissions. access is denied. " I
have turned off norton firewall & intrusion protection on both computers. I
do see the XP computer in the network map too.
