Diagnose and repair -dial-up?

My internet connection through a dial-up occasionally shows 'limited
connection'. I have a connection to my ISP but the computer will not talk to
it. The connection icon has a yellow mark in it.

Tried to use 'diagnose and repair' but it first asks to plug in a LAN
cable...
Is this useable at all for dial-up?

There is some issue between Vista and McAfee security suite (that came with
the machine). There are just so many layers to all the protection schemes
that finding where the connection is being blocked is awkward. MacAfee is
getting dumped shortly for a less invasive antivirus.

Re: Diagnose and repair -dial-up?

Hi Oppie,
Can you collect the following logs and send the same to me.

RAS Logs
To collect the logs, execute the following from elevated command prompt

. netsh ras set tr * en This enables RAS tracing
. <recreate the issue> - setup a dialup connection from scratch
. netsh ras set tr * di This disabled RAS tracing

This will generate log files in the %windir%\tracing directory. Please
zip the files and send them to me at

aanandr@microsoft.com

thanks
Aanand
