I have had difficulty networking 2 XP computers with a new Vista computer.
The 2 XP computers could see each other and the internet, but the Vista
computer could not be seen or see the XP computers. For the information of
those who have had the same problem I have had getting my home network to
run, the culprit was my firewall. It appears if the firewall is configured
correctly, all of the computers find each other without any problem - even
more efficiently than XP. Just make sure that all the file sharing options
and detection are set and that your firewall if configured correctly or
turned off and every thing should come up. One problem is that the new
computers we're buying with Vista may also come with something like Norton
Internet Security preinstalled. That was the case with my computer and it
was causing my problem by blocking everything. I turned it off and
everything worked. Windows firewall configures itself correctly as soon as
you turn on detection and sharing. Hope this helps.
