| | Vista can't see XP TabletPC I have a Linksys wireless router, a wireless enabled TabletPC, and a desktop connected to the router via ethernet cable. The TabletPC can access the internet thru the router, and can see and access the Vista desktop. It can also use a printer connected to the Vista desktop. My Vista desktop can't see, or access, the TabletPC come hell or high water. I have matching user accounts on both machines, and have read the File and Printer Sharing for Vista. I use OneCare, and all the necessary ports and protocols appear to be set up for discovery and use. TabletPC doesn't show up in Network when viewing computers on the same network (either in Vista Network window, or on the TabletPC Network window). Before I upgraded my desktop to Vista, everything was working fine on both puters. No problems accessing, seeing, transferring files, etc. using Simple File Sharing. But when I upgraded to Vista on the desktop, it killed the networking capabilities between the two computers. I got the TabletPC to see and access the desktop finally, but not the other way around. Any ideas? -- Thanks, John |

Any idea what I need to change, other than keeping OneCare turned off on the TabletPC? Thanks. | | Re: Vista can't see XP TabletPC Hello John, You can easily allow these requests being made to your computer. To do so, follow these steps: 1. Double-click the Windows Live OneCare icon in the notification area. 2. Click View or Change Settings, and then click the Firewall tab. 3. Click Advanced settings. 4. Click Ports and Protocols. 5. Check/Uncheck ICMP v4 Inbound checkbox. -- Eric Cross Microsoft MVP (Windows Networking) http://mvp.support.microsoft.com "A" <A@A.net> wrote in message news:%23vg0GesaHHA.808@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl...
