| | Wireless to Linksys 300N Hi Gang, Anybody have a solution for DHCP/Vista to a Linksys 300N? Everything works great wired. DHCP, no problems. I have the latest Intel driver for my 2200b/g adapter. It's a Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook. I also have DHCP issues at my office, it's way way too difficult to make sure it's AP is up to date, we just have too many of them to go around. I've tried various encryptions, including none, just because. No difference. I do have the latest updates to the 300N as well. 1.03.something.... The linksys is on the MS list as being Vista compatible. I have run the Internet Connection wizard, thingy. The only one that doesn't seem to pass is the UPNP which is turned on for my router. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks, Nick |

I have the same router as you but I am wired with Vista and have no problems. My son is wireless with XP and has no problems connecting. Can a XP laptop connect to it? Does Vista see your wireless router? |

| | RE: Wireless to Linksys 300N I have a similar, related problem. I'm using the 150N router and works OK with wireless devices. I installed the 300N USB adapter on my Vista machine and downloaded the Vista drivers. All appeared OK except that connectivity is horrible. When I check link status the speed jumps back and forth between 1MB and 270MB. If I test Internet connection speed it clocks in at about 250KB on cable. If I put my DLink USB g connector back in it stays a steady 56MB and my Internet connection speed is 4.5-5.0 MB as it normally is. I had Linksys on the line for hours and tried everything. Strange thing is that the signal strength stays at max and the speed varies. The router and PC are only about 10 feet apart. | | In answer to the orginal poster: At Home with a single 300N and the Vista box try this: *Can you see the Wireless Router when you Scan for a Network? ->You should Find somthing like "Linksys" or if you change the SSID you should see whatever you typed in. ->If you can not see it go into the config when connected wired and change the SSID to not be hidden *Does the computer try to connect then fail? ->IF so then an Error message would be VERY helpful Please post a reply with the error message as it appears on the screen not appoxmently what it says. ![]() *At Work: ->I am assusing this is a small company otherwise you'd go ask IT to fix it for you -> In a multi AP envirment like a small office buy your company a small server. Windows has Small Busniess Server which is very easy to setup. Get the server to run DHCP then turn DHCP off on all the APs. --------------------------------------------------------------- What are you using UPnP for? If the answer is I don't know then you can live without it. |
