| | Local Access Only I have a new Toshiba A205 Satellite laptop with Vista Ultimate Installed. I am having fits getting a consistent internet connection. I have two access points in my network; one is a Netgear WPN824 and the other a Belkin 5D7230-4. Both work perfectly in the XP environment hard wired and via wireless. With the Toshiba/Ultimate combination, I am always able to connect into my LAN, accessing other computers and printers, but most of the time I get a "Local Access" restriction notice and an X in the map showing connectivity from the router to the Internet. In other words, most of the time I cannot get through. Other times I have been able to get connected via wireless or hard connection. I have successfully been able to connect via Third Party Hotspots. Am I doomed to never being able to reliably connect to a legacy router? That's not a good situation for the vast majority of users out there. |
