| | Problem with offline files: error "no access" I use VISTA business on my VAIO TX5MN. When I change offline files on my VAIO in offline mode and later try to synchronize them with my PC with XP SP2, I get errors "no access". I found out, that files like {6354725448}.tmp appear on my PC with XP. New files on my VISTA VAIO or new files on my XP PC or files changed on my XP PC are synchronized without errors. This seems to be a serious error in VISTA. I found some interesing articeles: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296264/en-us https://blogs.technet.com/filecab/ar...11/441131.aspx In fact, I had wrong settings, concerning "opportunistic locking". I set proposed values in my XP registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MRXSmb\Parameters\ OplocksDisabled REG_DWORD 0 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters EnableOplocks REG_DWORD 1 But now I still get my "no access" errors. Wo can help me? |

| | Re: Problem with offline files: error "no access" Hi Mark, It looks like you don't have "all access" on the share for the user accessing the share. On the server (which I gather is the XP machines) in share permissions for the share in question, make sure the "all access" box is checked for the user accessing the share. Hope this helps, Shubhankar "Martin Rhinow" <in@gmx.de> wrote in message news:%234Wa9P8iHHA.1220@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >I use VISTA business on my VAIO TX5MN. | | Re: Problem with offline files: error "no access" Just to be sure, is the following your exact scenario? The client is a Vista machine The server is running XP SP2 The user has made a share on the server, available offline on the client The user has "Full Control" (not all access as I had earlier written) in both these places on the rt click property page of the server directory that is shared- 1. when you click on "permissions" in the sharing tab. 2. in the security tab The user makes changes to share from client, while the client has no connection to the server The user then gets a connection to the server from the client and tries to sync his offline changes to the server. Everytime the user does that, he gets an error and an additional .tmp file appears. | | Re: Problem with offline files: error "no access" Exactly, thats my scenario. Meanwhile I installed a software that gives my XP HOME some XP Professional features like security settings for shares. Even if I set full control to everybody for the directory of the share and all following directories (security XPFSE) I get this error. Furthermore I noticed, that file attribute of the share (and all directories of my XP machine) shows write protection. I am able to change that, but next time I look, write protection box is checked again. But I read in the newsgroups, that this is a general error in XP. And remenber, I am able to change shared files directly from VISTA, when I dont use synchronization. | | Re: Problem with offline files: error "no access" Hi Martin, I wonder whether the fact that this is XP home has anything to do with it. Do you have access to any other servers (XP pro or win2k3) you can try this out on? There is a bug in Vista RTM that would cause exactly this scenario to fail (modification works but sync fails.) However that gets fixed if the share permissions are changed to "all access" Thanks, Shubhankar "Martin Rhinow" <in@gmx.de> wrote in message news:uYb0$n6jHHA.744@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Exactly, thats my scenario. > Meanwhile I installed a software that gives my XP HOME some XP > Professional features like security settings for shares. | | Re: Problem with offline files: error "no access" Thanks for your answer. Sorry, but I don't have access to XP pro or win2k3. I only have access to another notebook with XP home (SP2). I tried there (without changing any "opportunistic lockings"): I got the same error. As I read in another newsgroup, SONY did change VISTA on some machines with fingerprint recognition or other features. My VISTA machine doesn't have any special security features but I bought my notebook with preinstalled VISTA business.
