Vista - ADSL Router problem (USR 9003)

I have an USRobotics 9003 ADSL ,
it let me browse the internet with Internet Explorer but not connect with
Windows Mail or Windows Live Messenger, or any other program like skype etc...

I testet my router with the online Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool
and it says that my router is not UPnP enabled.

Is it possible that this caracteristic blocks my internet connections ?

(In my LAN any other operating system works fine, except for the latest
ubuntu 7.04 maybe for the same reason, because it has the same behaviour of
Vista)

Computers use UPnP to create static port mappings on the router. I would
advise you to poke around on your router's web page, and find the place to
enable UPnP. Also, your firewall may be set to "no exceptions", this would
block you.

You should also be certain you have recent firmware for your device.

Can you post the detail report from running the IGDtool webpage?

Here is the report: i have the latest firmware but i suppose my router is not
"modern" and doesn't have UPnP, but it shouldn't be a problem for
applications :-(

I don't think it's a problem of the lack of UPnP capabilities of my router ...
Why XP should work and Vista not ?

It is highly unlikely that your issue has anything to do with UPnP.

What you might try is turning off Vista's TCP autotuning.
There is a new TCP tuning feature in Vista which is
not compatible with some servers.
a. Go to the Vista start menu and type cmd
b. The search results will display a program named "cmd"
c. Right-click on the link and select "Run as administrator"
d. type "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled" without
the quotation marks
e. Test your POP email account and see if you can now download your mail.
f. If nothing changes, re-enable the autotuning feature by typing
"netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=normal"

Please post back with the results.

Now all programs go through the firewall.....
even MSN Messanger, Skype etc......

Could you explain me something more about this VISTA TCP tuning feature ?
Why only USR 9003 is affected...well i think only me, because the US Robotics
helpdesk doesn't know anything about this problem ??

I think Ubuntu 7.04 has a similar feature because has the same problem....
