| | Cannot connect to the internet I have Vista Premium (OEM) and I am using a Athlon 4600+ dual core PC. I have both a 3Com OfficeConnect 11g Firewall Router and also, BT Home Hub. I got the Home Hub when my first router would not get me connected to the internet but, unfortunately, the same is with this BT router also. I have spoken at great length on the phone with BT and Microsoft; these ran me through various tests. Their conclusion was that the PC was not communicating via the ethernet cable, with the router. They told me to contact the PC vendor, as it is a new machine. My question is this: does it sound like there is a hardware fault with my PC; or, do you think I need to play about with the PC's configuration in some way... maybe doing a uninstall/reinstall on the networking side of things? My router is set up for PPoE and I am using WEP, if that info helps. I am truly a novice in this field so, any replies/suggestions need basic explanations and certainly, no computer jargon; I'm clueless. I am also very unhappy. Hope you can help... |

| | Re: Cannot connect to the internet I have a similar problem at windows startup. I get a yellow caution icon over my lan connection, and if I use the vista repair function to reset the adapter everything comes back working fine. I have a Linksys VOip router with a comcast connection? Would that article apply to me also? | | Re: Cannot connect to the internet Sounds like it might apply. The symptoms you gave are consistent with DHCP failure.
