    Hi Tinu,

even, if you are an expert, trying to get XP and Vista to communicate is
like 95 versus NT all over again.

    a) make sure all PCs have the same workgroup name
    b) set your network type to "private"
    c) turn network discovery on
    d) you need to install VISTA's LLTD responder on XP (@#$%^!!!)
    e) you need to deconfigure Norton firewalls or find out how to configure
    them properly (I was unable)
    f) make sure all services related to MS proprietary networking are started
(I just turned on much more than probably needed, becasue as usual nothing is
    documented.
.... now I still get the message "access denied", when trying to connect to
a printer on XP. While forn XP to XP there is no problem.

Alternative: bring your LAPTOP back to the shop and get an Apple!!

Hah! Excelent advice inside Microsoft newsgroup.
I could add some more: Uninstall or at less disable Norton, and get instead
AVG or Avast; Or just install the Fedora on your PC...
    BUT
There is a net-etiquette. It says, don't give advises which you wasn't asked
for (off-topics); and don't advertise non-Microsoft products using MS
    servers.

Tinu, click on Control panel > Network and Internet and follow directions.
In any time, also, you can push by one finger a button on keyboard with
"WinFlag" on it, and a button "F1" by other finger. Then read, read and
    read once again.
You can do it by yourself.
