    Direct Connection

I would like to connect a Desktop computer running on Vista Ultimate to a
laptop running on XP Home edition using a ethernet cable.
Please let me know how i can transfer data between the two computers using
    only the ethernet cable.

    Thanks,
    Vishnu Viswanathan

    Re: Direct Connection

You will need a special patch cable called a "cross-over" cable. Some of the
wires are swapped internally allowing the direct connection. Most good
electronic/computer supply stores sell them. Or you could also purchase an
inexpensive router or switch and use "normal" patch cables...but that
    exceeds your stated requirements.
