Hello guys, I finally made my last pc vista. all my pc's are vista
enterprise and i'm using vista firewall w/ a linksys router and i'm at
working using xp and when I RDP using the IP or domain name it just
doesn't connect. I also changed the remote to allow any version of RDP
and it works when i'm rdping via LAN it works but still nothing on a
WAN. ps on my linksys I didn't change my port forwarding and confirmed
it was still the same as before when it was working via xp.

What OS is the client running, ie. XP or Vista? If its XP make sure the RDP
6 client is configured like this...

What is the exact error message?

Have you run the http://www.canyouseeme.org test for the ports your trying
to connect to? Run the test from each PC on your LAN that you want to
remotely connect to. Since you can connect over your local LAN then it comes
down to a port forwarding issue. Remember you can't generally call using the
public IP of the router from another PC on the same LAN.

Have you tried resetting your router?

I presume your trying to access multiple PCs with Remote Desktop by opening
multiple ports on your router versus through a VPN or SSH tunnel?

I will reset the router manually when I get in, I tried the options you
gave me.I tried the rpd 6, didn't work. I tried for it to find the port
and I think that's the problem, it said it couldn't find 3389 for my IP
216.***.**.***. Any reason why it wouldn't find a open port that's set
aside for rdp and when I checked the vista firewall it was already added
as an exception.

If you can successfully connect internally over your local LAN from another
PC and the test at http://www.canyouseeme.org fails from the PC you want to
remotely connect to then its an issue with port forwarding through your
router or your ISP is blocking those ports (unlikely).

I fixed the router. I have port forward 3389 to IP 192.168.15.104 "my
pc" and 192.168.15.103 "wife pc". both pc's identical, running no other
firewall besides vista firewall. my remote has my user name added and
now that I redid the router, I can rdp using my IP and it gets me into
hers but not mine, keeps telling me "user name or password invalid" but
if I Rdp in from home on the LAN or WAN and get into my wife then rdp to
mine the same user/pw gets me in.

You need to use a different port for either your wife's PC or your PC. One
PC uses TCP Port 3389 while the other would use TCP Port 3391 for example.
It sounds like your trying to access both PCs through your router using TCP
Port 3389. Review these again...

thanks Al! I was able to make the new port 3391, it still didn't work,
but once I turned off vista firewall, I can now get in to mine and my
wife @ the same time.

I recommend you still have the Windows Firewall active by adding a new port
exception for TCP Port 3391 and naming it something like RDP for example.
