windows blocked access to content

my friend sent me some stuff over Windows Live Messenger, and it was a .exe
file. every single time, to my frustration, windows blocked it without giving
me a choice to access it or not. went to windows mail (as instructed by
windows help) and unchecked "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened
that could potentially be a virus" under security options.
tried downloading the file again, and again Windows blocked it without
giving me any options. can you please help me? I just want to access my
files.

Re: windows blocked access to content

Hello,

you could see if the following setting in Live Messenger is checked:
Tools -> Options -> File Transfer -> "Automatically reject file
transfers...". If yes, uncheck it and try again.

Greetings,

Re: windows blocked access to content

hi can anybody help?
i am still unable to access the content. it's an EXE file. i would just like
to have the choice of blocking it, if i wish to block it. it's quite
frustrating that windows blocked it for me without allowing me the choice to
allow the program to run.

Re: windows blocked access to content

Me too, same problem, wont let me open an exe file in Vista... apparently
Microsoft think every user in the world is a novice with no idea on what
files are dangerous or not. Nice touch...
