| Guest | Printer sharing Printer on XP Vista Laptop can't see Running a shared printer on an XP desktop. Wireless network has two XP machines and one Vista Laptop communicating on the internet just fine. Can't find the shared printer when trying to add a printer to the Vista machine. I can see the Vista machine in the workgroup from the XP desktop. But nothing I try from the Vista machine evens shows the XP desktop or its attached printer. The other XP machine prints to the shared printer just fine. Any suggestions appreciated. |

| Guest | Re: Printer sharing Printer on XP Vista Laptop can't see Same problem here. cannot see the shared printer over wireless. Only suggestion I have is that if I connect using a network cable into the router instead of wireless it works. A proper solution to get wireless working would be good... | Guest | Re: Printer sharing Printer on XP Vista Laptop can't see Thanks for the reply but I do not know what you are asking. I also went to the links you provide and find that the page is full of multiple articles and I certainly do not know to which you are referring. If you could provide a bit more specificity please? | Guest | Re: Printer sharing Printer on XP Vista Laptop can't see For example, the remote pc IP is 192.168.1.2, do this command "net use \\192.168.1.2". You may receive a system error code if there is an issue. Then search it in http://www.ChicagoTech.net to troubleshoot. | Guest | Re: Printer sharing Printer on XP Vista Laptop can't see Sorry about the detailed questions but this issue with sharing printers with this new Vista OS appears so large that I want to only deal with the problem once. Do I issue the net use command from the XP machine that has the printer connected or from the new laptop with Vista? Whose IP address do I exeute within net use, the XP machine or the Lpatop running Vista? Just as a trial I ran the command from the other XP machine using its own IP address and the result was simply a message that said "command executed" so I do not know what command was issued.
