Vista - Vista asking for password on XP

2 comps...Vista see my shared folder on XP, i manage to be able to see Vista
shared folder(s) on XP, but when i click on the folder/link it ask for a user
name and password....thing is that i don't have any password on any comps
what so ever....any idea???

By default, Windows Vista does not allow access to shared folders from
accounts that have no password. This is to protect you from internet-based
attacks that frequently scan computers looking for empty passwords and
taking over such machines.

*** It is highly recommended that you set a password on your account ***

Now, if you have a GOOD firewall running, you may want to take this shortcut
to allow your other computer to browse your Vista machine without entering a
password.

FOLLOWING THESE STEPS WILL GREATLY REDUCE THE SECURITY OF YOUR MACHINE:

blank passwords to console logon only"
- Click Disabled
- Click OK

You will now be able to access your Windows Vista shares from other
computers using an account with no password. It will still ask you for a
username and password; you just need to type in the username and click OK.

Why not just put in the username and password of the account you created when
you installed Vista. That's what I did.
There is also a save password checkbox so it won't ask you again unless
maybe you reboot.

It works!!! Finally decided to put a password, manage to find the user name
and Voila!!! Thanks!!!

But there *is* a need for a password, as you have found out. You can set
XP to log in automatically if you would prefer that convenience.

Wait how do you set windows Vista to automatically login? With this being a
beta I'm rebooting, which I never do with my main computer. Are power toys
for this thing yet? i.e. TweakUI.
