| | Weird sharing problem I have a home network (ethernet) with a netgear router. Previously with three xp machines it worked flawlessly. Added new notebook with Vista. It worked perfect with two of the xp machines and all three xp's could access the Vista machine, but when trying to access one of them from Vista, it would only find the Program Files folder! Both drives on the xp machine were set to share, but the Program Files folder (as well as the other system folders) were not! I played with the Zone Alarm on both, even inactivated Zone alarm on both without any change. Finally changed the settings on Zone alarm on the XP machine and now vista can see everything on it--BUT, drive C and Drive D are seen as sub-folders of Program Files. WOW. Not asking for help, just amazed how it works. -- Gerald Ross Cochran, GA The most expensive component is the one that breaks. |
