Weird sharing problem

I have a home network (ethernet) with a netgear router. Previously with
three xp machines it worked flawlessly. Added new notebook with Vista.
It worked perfect with two of the xp machines and all three xp's could
access the Vista machine, but when trying to access one of them from
Vista, it would only find the Program Files folder! Both drives on the
xp machine were set to share, but the Program Files folder (as well as
the other system folders) were not!
I played with the Zone Alarm on both, even inactivated Zone alarm on
both without any change. Finally changed the settings on Zone alarm on
the XP machine and now vista can see everything on it--BUT, drive C and
Drive D are seen as sub-folders of Program Files. WOW.
Not asking for help, just amazed how it works.

Re: Weird sharing problem

Could you please post back with the result of command net view \\xpipaddres (xpipaddress is the IP of the XP)?

Re: Weird sharing problem

Sorry, I don't know what you are talking about. I tried entering that as
a command in the C:\prompt mode but no dice.

Thanks, Mick. Most of that I had already figured out. But did not
explain how the Vista computer could see the non-shared Program Files
folder on the XP computer.
