Vista - Vista <-> XP Workgroup Networking

I can connect my new Vista PC to my XP Workgroup apparently OK; I can print
to network printers and see other machines. But it won't let me copy files
from Vista to XP machines even though the destination XP folder is full
shared. It either says I do not have permission or need to grant Full Access
Permission, or "No mapping between account names and security IDs was done".
I can't grant Full Access Permission as that is a Domain issue; all I can do
in an XP Workgroup is grant generic network read/write access, which I have
done. Am I missing something?

I've a similar problem. I'm in a parithetic environment and til XP I
was able with both pc with same user and password to enter in C$ (or
whatever shared folder) and work on the remote pc.
Now on a Vista I can reach the remote computer, get the login dialog
box, but after enter the user and password Vista deny me the access.
The same happens on XP, I reach the Vista computer but I'm unable to
enter into it.

Is there some hidden button, some registry hive to add ... something
to let me work without matters?

Vista network support is unrealistic (10 times slower than XP) ... I
hope that at least grant access from different environment.

You can speed up networking in Vista by disabling Remote Differential

I'll have a try. Certainly it sounds a possible cause since the remote
pc is a linux nas server, so certainly not MS based. I'll let you
know.

In my case in both pc exist the couple user/password. What other else
could be the cause?

A little test, and all seems as it was before unchecking it. To open a
pdf of 17MB it takes up to 1 minute and to move over the pages, also
20 seconds. It's a core duo 1,8 with 2gb of ram ... on XP that pc was
a flash.
