Home Network message

The system says:
Verify you Firewall Settings
The setting for a rule must be changed if you want to allow
this traffic.

Does anybody know what setting they are talking about?
I would like to change the setting but I do not know which setting
and where do I change it.

Only hint that came with the message is : Port Scanning Prevention Filter

Help anybody???

Control Panel > Security >Allow a program through Windows Firewall

I think that's what you want.

RE: Home Network message

I need to know which program to allow thru the firewall.

I already have used that screen and I even added MS Explorer to the list but
I still need to allow a specific program. I do not know which one and there
is no documentation to follow.

Hello,

This sounds like Windows is blocking a port scanning attempt, which is where
an attacker tries to connect to your computer many times to see what
programs you are running.

Unless this is causing a program to function incorrectly, then there is no
reason to disable this behavior.

Re: Home Network message

Thanks Jimmy and John. I was able to resolve the problem in my system and as
it turns out, it was not a problem with Windows Vista. In my other computers
on the network (3 units) I use ZoneAlarm Firewall. I had to implicitely
define the Trusted Zone in those computers. Then everything works and I can
share files and printers accross the entire four computer network. Two are
wireless. I also had to define the trusted zone in Norton Internet Security
in my new Dell XPS 600 system and in the Trend Micro Firewall in my Pentium
III "Research" computer running Vista and Office Pro 2007. Again, thanks for
your interest in this problem.
