| | Vista without internet connection behind wifi router running as cl Hi, we a have a small LAN with our neighbour - there is a standard 8/port switch, where are connected our PCs and notebook. There is connected a wifi router - it is set as wifi client, which is connected to our internet provider server via wifi. The server is set as internet GW. All PCs in our LAN running Windows XP or other operating system (non MS OS) are able to connect this way to internet. Our neighbour bought a new HP notebook with Windows Vista preinstalled. But his access to internet works only when we set the new IP adress on it: We have fixed IP adresses in our LAN - all are assigned by our ISP. The wifi client has it's own IP address also. After we set a new IP everything to that notebook with Vistas it worked fine untill first notebook restart. Then Vista was not able to ping ISP server, just our WiFi AP-client. The funny thing - it was possible to display web pages from this server which is used as our inet gateway, but nothing behind. We asked our ISP to assign a new IP, after we set it on that notebook. Everything was running incl. internet connectivity until next notebook restart. Then we tried it with the third IP address once again = exactly the same behaviour. Can anybody help us with some suggestion(s) how correctly configure this stuff to provide for Vista notebook internet connectivity? Thanks. |

| | Re: Vista without internet connection behind wifi router running as cl It's likely that the ISP needs to update some router software or apply some other fixes. And the Vista PC may need to update a driver or apply a regedit fix. Post an ipconfig /all from the machine having trouble (as text please, not an image) and one from a machine that works. Interesting, most ISPs prohibit sharing connectivity between households, who is the ISP that accommodates you? | | Re: Vista without internet connection behind wifi router running a ISP is a small company in our /small/ city. Wifi network is provided for a community of people therefore there is no problem with sharing a connectivity. In fact we know almost all people connected to this wifi network. That's about ISP. Regarding ipconfig /all - I will be able to send it when I will be at home again - at the end of week (currently I am abroad). I just want to add some info - we already tried to upgrade Network card driver - its Intel LAN card (don't remember exact type) and we tried last Intel's drivers for Vistas - no positive results. Regarding router software - we tried to change our old OvisLink WL-1120AP for Wistron AirCA8-PRO suggested by our ISP. We tried to use last firmwares on both of these AP (both were configured as clients). Results were the same. We also tried to turn off IPv6 in Vistas, again no result. We tried to connect notebook to (our friend's) DSL router and tried to download all available vista updates. No improvement.
