    Vista won't stay connected anymore

I have been using my Vista laptop wirelessly on my home network for 2
months without issue all through out my house. Last week it stopped
connected all together and then when I finally got back connected, it
drops the connection every few minutes. This happens even when I am
10 feet from the WAP. I haven't changed anything and at times it will
stay connected uninterrupted. Like last night it was fine and this
morning it is being sketchy again.

    Any ideas what's going on?

If Robert L's suggestion doesn't work it may be R/F interference. Have you
recently installed anything that may be using the same radio frequency or
generating some interference. Some possibilities are cordless phones,
fluorescent lights, microwave ovens, any electrical device with a large
transformer. It could even be in a neighbour's house if the source of the
interference is powerful enough. Sometimes changing the channel for the
wireless may help but usually not.

Are other wireless computers experiencing the same problem?

Nope the other wireless (XP) laptop is having no issues. We haven't
installed anything new and the wireless router is in our basement
where it has always been so I would think that would help block
    outside interference.

Anyhow I will try Robert's suggestion.

Re: Vista won't stay connected anymore

I have found that if you have the realtek network adapter on your Vista
machine NOT to do the Realtek 8185 Extensible 802.11b/g Wireless Device
Networking sofware update released in March, 2007 is the answer. If this was
done automatically with your windows update try rolling back your driver and
see if that provides you with a solution. I cant promise this is the issue,
but I am pretty sure. It has worked for me as well as many other systems I
    have worked on.

    Hope this helps,
