Taskbar Notification Area Network choice greyed out

I have been reading all the posts regarding this issue. My network location
icons
no longer show in the notification area. Suprisingly, the checkbox for
network is
greyed out in the taskbar settings.

Has a resolution for this issue been found?

Thanks!

Re: Taskbar Notification Area Network choice greyed out

I tried this which I got from another internet site and it worked.
run 'regedit.exe'
goto key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\LocalSettings\Software\
Microsoft\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify'
delete keys 'IconStreams' & 'PastIconsStream'
Start task manager, go to process and kill explorer.exe
go to applications in the task manager, hit new task and type
'explorer.exe'
explorer will now reboot and your icons should return. I had to go
to task manager and check the network and volume buttons.

Hope it works for you.

Re: Taskbar Notification Area Network choice greyed out

Thanks a lot. I looked all over here trying to find this solution. Problem
only occured after Vista (Ultimate) SP1 update. I'm glad this helped fix this
issue.
