Vista - Vista Premium Networking Problems after Sleep, Hibernation 2nd Post

Hi,
Is there not a MS MVP who can help me with this? I have a HP laptop and HP
can not help any further. They say it's a MS problem, but my laptop does not
qualify for MS Tech Support because its OEM, HP.

what I have been experiencing. I have my Vista laptop connected to my
Netgear WGR614v7 router via ethernet cable, NOT wireless.
When the laptop comes out of Sleep or Hibernation modes it loses the IP and
other networking info and can not reconnect automatically. Two things
correct this: 1. Power cycling the router 2. Using the IPCONFIG /RENEW. I
swapped my WGR614v6 for the WGR614v7, no change.
Is anyone else seeing this? And, the updates available in the article above
do not include help for Vista 32-bit. I tried both and they don't install on
the 32-bit platform. Is Microsoft going to issue something else for Vista
Premium 32-bit?

if the KB article isn't the solution, have you checked for NIC
driver updates? do you have all the updates or Vista from Windows
Update? the v7 was certified/logo'd as "works with Vista".

(you DO leave the router and your broadband modem on 24/7, right?)

Hi,
The KB article did not solve the problem. I have the latest driver for my
Nvidia Gforce networking card. I have installed all windows updates. I leave
the router and modem on 24/7.

Which exact laptop do you have? Did it come with Vista pre-installed
or was this an upgrade?

The laptop is an HP dv6406nr. I added 2 gigs of memory, otherwise hardware
is as listed. Vista pre-installed. I use static IP addressing until I can

forgot to report one behaviour. After sleep or hibernation mode,
[sometimes]Vista appears to be connected [router and internet], browsing
works, etc. BUT, the connection is lost after a minute or so. Very strange
as this is not the case after sleep or hibernation. Does this clarify
anything for you?

INFORMATION section. I am going to call NetGear and point out this article
