Nvidia to launch GeForce 9 series in February

Nvidia is ready for its next-generation GPU launch. According to sources at graphics card makers, the company plans to launch its GeForce 9 series GPU after the Lunar New Year in February.

The first chip to rollout of in GeForce 9 family will be the D9E, a high-end product that adopts 65nm manufacturing. The new product will also support DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1, revealed the sources.

In addition to the D9E, Nvidia will roll out a mid-range GeForce 9 family product named D9P in June 2008. The new GPU will adopt 55nm processing, the sources pointed out.

that’s more money to spend I guess

3Ghz P4 CPU - 2GB ram - 500 GB storage - 8800GTS - ASUS Intel 945 PCIX MB. P5PL2 - X-fi Extreme Music

Not very good spec. Will be improved soon.

Re: Nvidia to launch GeForce 9 series in February

thats strange with manufacturing size

top range 65nm

mid range 55nm

ATI did the same thing with their last offering

2900 series 80nm

2600 series 65nm

anyone know why that is?? little curious cause i got the 2900XT and im wondering why they chose not to put the newer manufacturing into the better card

isnt it usually more efficent?

hmm...??

Its less risk if they go with a older process, the mid range chips are less complex so they can work out the kinks more easily.
