because i can't enter yet Im just seeing a cmd screen scanning the regestry for hours.

BTW I am using my brother's pc.

but why is there a scanning going on???

looks like microsoft pulled the update for service pack 1 off windows update Microsoft yanks Vista SP1 update causing endless reboots

Update 937287 was the cause of the problem, and I also had the same problem...the first install failed, and the second time it succeeded.
I attached a screen shot for ur viewing.

ok boys...

i got the update sign in my task bar... i installed the sp1... i restarted... it installed 2 of 3 updates... restarts... installs the 3rd update... and restarts and then is say

VISTA SP1 could not be installed... reverting changes...


i tried it 3 times and still the same problem

any suggestions?

I can bet you're missing 1 or 2 hot fixes...which should be installed prior to installing SP1, and make sure it's SP1 FINAL , not some BETA or RC version.

and i did look for updates before i tried the sp1... and there were no updates pending...

actually.. it says.... Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330).. is that correct?

I'm curious...what size is this SP1?
Actually I'm kinda surprised MS is even offering SP1 on windows updates....mmmm
I thought that wouldn't happen till end of March.

uhh uhh...you should download the SP1 Final off a torrent file like I did...this way it's done properly from start to finish...I don't mess with code thingy ...it just complicates matters more.

i downloaded the SP1 thro the WU too. mine was 131.3MB
it actually said it would be from 90MB to 837MB depending on what ur system needs but mine was 131MB
