Re: New Windows Vista Ultimate Extras

Well quite simple really. You install deskscapes v2.0.It (if you let it) attaches the suffix wmv to itself. If you click on a wmv file deskscapes opens it and plays it as dream. Got here by clicking to fast yes and was pretty surprised after a while when i wanted to watch a HDmovie in wmv format. Normally the suffix opens PowerDVD, but after my to eager clicking deskscapes opened it. Full screen on both monitors. Be aware, in the tab of the dreamscenes on the bottom there is the option: Use Internal Player.
While this plays standard WMV files more efficient it wont run other codec files renamed to WMV. Also when using different resolutions on both monitors dont forget to tick the 'fit to full screen with cropping' box (right most)
I have a 8600GTS 256 and it runs smoothly so you should be fine

Re: New Windows Vista Ultimate Extras

no, i just open a folder with my dreams and films i want to use as dreams. Click on the.dream or .wmv file and it runs. Movies deskscapes can't display show up as wmv icons, those it can it shows a thumbnail. ( did install full matroska and xvid/divx codecs)
Same in the dreamscene tab (see screenshots)

Uninstall every other codec you have then install these ones as they come with xvid/divx and heaps more codecs with working, stable Vista versions...Vista Codec Pack - 32bit & 64bit Media Player Codecs

Re: New Windows Vista Ultimate Extras

Heh - in fact when I installed x64 at the beginning of the month and was having trouble with a particular video, I went and installed those very same codecs because I couldn't find a simple solution for getting XviD installed on x64 that seemed to work correctly - at least not from what I read.

So, I have those installed, and correctly and in order. I should now just be able to pick (a) video(s) and run them as dreams, eh?

I'll give it a shot later this evening.

Re: New Windows Vista Ultimate Extras

Btw, if there's anyone out there that has info on the dynamic dream reguirements? As in what accesspoints does the dll need to have etc. I am very curious if i could write a simple player control, fast back/forward, rewind, pause and remember last position using this feature. I contacted stardock but my question is totally ignored, posted on their forum, total silence. Searched high and low, no specs to be found; Contacted dreammakers, no response....

Re: New Windows Vista Ultimate Extras

I'd hit M$ up on that for an answer - perhaps that may even be in the works.

I would love to be able to take stills and make a movie and then a dream automatically - I use Weather Watcher Live as my desktop weather program, and it archives my wallpaper on every update (typically every 5 minutes or so) so I would love to be able to script a way to make the last, say, 6 hours of images to be conglomerated into a dream that would be running on my second monitor....

Nah, dynamic dreams is a deskscapes feature. as i understand it it's exactly meant for the things you want but how to do it they don't tell. Weird
