Re: OCZ unveils 128GB solid-state drive priced at $479

I find it easier to keep each operating system and its associated files and application software on an individual drive and switch between drives via the key option one has on mobile racks, so about 350 Gigabytes is the sweet spot for me, so when they start to appear in 350 Gigabyte versions, I will take a look at them. Hopefully the price will have further dropped by then. Any sign of a manufacturer bringing out a mobile rack system for these solid state drives?

Best and Warm Regards
Adrian Wainer

Just a thought, if these drives are as fast as your ram and with low latencies, does this mean that one day your ram may become obsolete?

Interesting. But, I'd say, now, you'd still need volatile Memory for application and storage memory, and those would (by design of the way the microkernels are currently written) need to be separate hardware devices.

Of course, that doesn't mean one cannot write a *new* microkernel....incorporating the same device as both volatile storage as well as non volatile storage....

(Did I just find a great topic for my Master's Thesis in 2 years???)
