I did hear a rumor that Microsoft was scraping IE8 and was going to use FireFox as the default browser in Windows 7.
I sure hope not. I'd like to see firefox to stay firefox.

Re: Firefox Guinness World Record

I doubt Microsoft would ever use a competitor's product in their own OS - at least not without mucking things up and / or disabling a majority of features (a la Diskeeper versus Microsoft Disk Defragmenter).

Even if they do, I'll continue to use my own personal preference and use my special builds.

This is my first post to the forum... I was one of those downloads. I downloaded it the morning it went online and I have been using it since. I love the new look of it and the endless addons. It's a lot better than Fire Fox 2 (drag and drop highlighted text and pics, etc.); tons more customizable than IE.

Re: Firefox Guinness World Record

First of all I gotta say FireFox is the best alternative browser there is PERIOD!

And congrats to Mozilla for the new record. I like the features in the x86 mozilla version and the x64 version in the minefeild build.

But I constantly find myself using IE again and again.

I dont really know why. I just seem to like it more. I can hit any function with my eyes closed. I find it easier to customise just the way I like.

Regardless of the fact that I have freinds at MS, I tried like hell to find true love with FF. I cant find real fault with it.

To coin a phrase...Its not you, its me.

Maybe I just try to keep things to clean, one av and one browser.

Its time for a 6 month re-format. All my data is backed up and all my new software versions and latest drivers are ready.

I will be leaveing firefox behind but will always watch and look for a day when it can come back and change my mind forever about IE.

But even though I will not be reinstalling it I will never bash it. I really did like a lot of the features.

I hope everone understands, I have been useing IE since Win3.0. I just like it better.

Anyone who doesn't understand is an idiot. Browser choice is just that choice. As in personal choice.

I am not going to harangue you for using IE. I will only say this - keep yourself protected - but that holds true regardless which browser you use, so again, that is not a dig at you *because* you're using IE - that is a dig at you because you use the Internet. :P

Re: Firefox Guinness World Record

Personally, I just made the big switch from IE to FF when FF 3 came out... I liked FF2, but it didn't look as smooth or have the same "feel" as IE, especially with the new tabbed browsing. I like FF now because of the vast array of plugins that make it really look different from the base model. I love the ad blocker and spell check as you type capability of FF. I still have to use IE for certain websites that only have plugins for IE... IE 7 is a major improvement from IE 6 still.

Re: Firefox Guinness World Record

I like ad-block in FF and spell-checker as well. I can spell but sometimes I go faster on the keyboard then I should.

My re-format is finished and Vista and all my apps and data are back in place. All clean and running noticeably faster.

No surprises either. Installed perfectly despite 5 internal and 2 external drives. I dont use RAID its pointless if your not doing Steven Speilber type video editing.

So I'm glad to here that everyone is cool with me not useing FF. And dont worry I'm safe. FF really could not make things any safer. I'm behind 3 routers and use NOD32 as well as software firewall and spyware protection. Theres nowhere I cant go.

Thanks.

Re: Firefox Guinness World Record

Firefox 3 seemed really slow for me in Vista x64, but I tried the x64 compiled build of FF3 called Minefield, and it's MUCH faster now.
