I run two 1 gigs on my laptop and two 2gigs on my desktop. Vista 86 on laptop and Vista 64 on desktop. When I check memory usage it is always around 50% on each system. I don't see a need to go to the max on desktop 16gig; Laptop 4gig as each does what I ask without any difficulty.

My desktop runs great on 2gb - have managed to push memory usage up to 64% on occasion, but never more that that.

Guess if you're doing very advanced image editing or 3D modelling you might want to have 4gb or more.

Seems to me 4GB RAM is about right, although I could definitely do with an upgrade to my DDR2 -800's.

Photoshop CS2 (and CS3) is a 32-bit application. Its address space cognizance is limited to 4 GB - isn't it?

I have 8Gb and memory usage is rarely more than 18%...that's where it's hovering now. My machine does photo editing, vector work and multi-channel music production. Plus those games, like Bioshock and Crysis! I don't know if there's a huge difference between 4Gb and 8Gb, but it's certainly a good time to fill your mobo...

My notebook has 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM @ 667 MHz and i use vista ultimate.
even if i play a high end game, my memory usage is never beyong 1 GB. I have 512 MB in-built graphics memory. Whats the issue? Why is my system unable to use more memory?

So my question is what is the max ram you can use with Vista 64?

Regardless of limits of the motherboard how much ram can Vista use?

Well x64 Ultimate can address up to 128gb of RAM...
i think its 80gb for Home Premium
