Re: So what do you think of the new Hotmail?

The new one doesn't work in my browser (FF3 btw) I can open emails if i am hell quick when it loads but otherwise it just sits there idling away.

MS has royally screwed up this one.

I would rather have a fully working version of Hotmail than a version that requires you use IE before you can use it.

Thats my 2 cents

I didn't think it was all bad, I like the new look. However like above I've had problems with it when not using IE, for example, when I used Chrome it wouldn't let me type new messages.

Re: So what do you think of the new Hotmail?

Well, it's the same thing with SkyDrive.

You may not have noticed but in FF you don't get an option to drag and drop files into your online storage. It's some ActiveX thing I believe.

There have been a few other sites I've went to with FF that I noticed something was "missing" and went back to IE and found the difference. I wouldn't have noticed it if I never visited the site in IE first. So now I use moslty IE for surfing and just have a FF window open for forums for the in-box spell checker.

Re: So what do you think of the new Hotmail?

I have not used hot mail in a long long time. I am pretty sure my account has lapsed.

The main reason I don't use IE and avoid other MS online products is because of the vendor lock in issues.

I prefer Gmail and yahoo mail Gmail more so because it is a cross platform service and application suite with google docus and calendar etc

I like FF because it has a HUGE developer base so addons are constantly being rolled out whereas IE is closed-source. Nough' said!

IE probably has a better look to it but FF can be customised with skins and such.

Incidentally, I couldn't load your images in FF right off the bat. LOL
It would just keep saying "loading" but it wouldn't pop up so I did it in IE.
I had to restart FF and then it worked all of the sudden.

Sometimes FF has some quirks. Like in this other forum today...that I wasn't able to get the "log me on every time I visit" working for a few days, I like posted anonymous, but then the confirmation pic with "artistic text" wouldn't show for me to read it! So then someone said to delete the cache and stuff so I deleted everything and then the confirmation box finally appeared!

And a bonus was that my "log me on every time I visit" setting started to work again too!!!

I guess it's a "When in doubt, delete all settings" kind of browser.

You can use 95% of all Firefox addons with Internet Explorer using IE7Pro with another addon but I forgot its name

They have had that problem and many others since the first release of Firefox 3 still unfixed, they need to sort their stuff out and start fixing these bugs sometime because the list of bugs is growing in the thousands

Re: So what do you think of the new Hotmail?

I'll stick with IE7Pro, I've never really had any problems with it same as with my Hotmail account, I got the free account years ago just for using in forums and newsgroups more than anything but it's never caused any problems so I keep it alongside my Gmail and 2 other mail accounts, they have their uses depending what mail I'm sending.
