| Vista Ultimate x64 | Rumor: three options for upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 Back in November, I explored the number of editions of Windows 7 that Microsoft was working on. While the company has not officially given a list yet, it was clear that Windows 7 Enterprise Edition and Windows 7 Ultimate Edition were definitely coming. Furthermore, there was an obvious avoidance of naming a Windows 7 Business Edition, though there was a mention of a Windows 7 Small Business Edition. While doing a little more digging, I stumbled on the following upgrade paths for Windows Vista to Windows 7. These are not confirmed, but I am told they are what Microsoft is currently considering:

| Windows 7 RC x64 (7100) | Re: Rumor: three options for upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 Well, using a name that was widely accepted already is quite common. For example, Quake => Quake 2 => Quake 3 >_<, so XP Professional => 7 Professional is ok. I just hope Windows 7 Ultimate... will actually be ... Ultimate. Because that DreamScene stuff is already available on XP thanks to Stardock and cheaper. (is the only "ultimate" thing worth mentioning) |

| Vista Ultimate x64 MAK, OpenSolaris 5, Gentoo 2008.1.... | Re: Rumor: three options for upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 No Ifs about it. On comparable hardware, W7 blows by Vista tick for tock, and is more secure, easier to manage, and a lot prettier too. |
