IE8 and SpyBot

Found this thread on another forum about problems with IE8 if you have SpywareBlaster or SpyBot installed, thought people might be interested in it.

Re: IE8 and SpyBot

Downloaded IE8 from WINDOWS UPDATE hoping some of the ills had been cured since my other two downloads earlier. Wrong! It is ever sooooooo slow out of the gate and seems also to reduce system speed. Installed it on both my pc and laptop. After becoming aware of the slow load times I did a lot of searching on the web and found several comments stating that SPYBOT and SPYWAREBLASTER were detrimental to the speed of IE8. Well, don't mess with it because it hardly makes any difference. Still have IE8 on my laptop, uninstalled both SPYBOT and SPYWAREBLASTER, cleared the restricted sites by resetting IE and from the moment I hit the IE button to a loaded page with one tab it takes 20 seconds, FIREFOX with 6 tabs takes about 4-5 seconds. On the pc which I reverted back to IE7 with SPYBOT and SPYWAREBLASTER still running I get a loaded one tab page in about 1-2 seconds and the same FIREFOX page with 6 tabs in 3-4 seconds. Mind you once IE8 is loaded it is indeed fast but overall system performance is noticeably reduced. IE8 will stay on the laptop as a 'tester'; I'm hoping MS will come up with a fix soon as I only have COMODO and AVAST running for security; don't rightly know yet what to use in lieu of SPYBOT and SPYWAREBLASTER.

Re: IE8 and SpyBot

I use Spybot and IE8 was running very slowly for me.... in fact I found this forum while looking for an answer....

I just found something on another forum that seems to have solved the problem for me...

WindowsFixUp – Speeding Up Internet Explorer 8

the DelDomains package

Not sophisticated enough to explain the why's but I still have SpyBot installed and IE8 is much faster now....

I'd pretty well given up on it and was using Foxfire, but decided to give it one more try

Re: IE8 and SpyBot

Thanks for the link, CoCoChan. I'll certainly will give it a try. Should I reinstall SPYBOT first and then run DelDomains or the other way around? Can anyone comment on the use of SPYWARE BLASTER with IE8?

Re: IE8 and SpyBot

I'm using IE8 and SpywareBlaster and don't seem to be having any problems.

What I did do was after downloading IE8 from Windows Update I disabled the protection in SpywareBlaster agreed to the IE8 EULA and installed it.
I then rebooted twice then re-enabled the protection in SpywareBlaster and everything is fine, this was done without doing anything to my anti-virus which is NOD32 and using the built in Vista firewall.

Re: IE8 and SpyBot

Since I already have IE8 on my laptop, I reinstalled SpyBot and then installed the DelDomain tool, it sure did help! Guess, I have to leave all those 10K domain files unchecked under Immunize in Spybot. Makes me a bit nervous about security but I do feel a bit better about it after reading the post by VanguardLH in the "SpyBot and IE8" thread here:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general&tid=0e3c4346-6987-4df6-9d38-511d588a2e52&cat=en_us_28cca3eb-7037-4d4f-bde1-d8efee1f1420〈=en&cr=us&sloc=en-us&m=1&p=1

As far as SpywareBlaster goes I guess I'll just reinstall and do trial and error.
