I guess but like the idea. But they dont need to prove that and popular tech sites will make sure point is ignored anyway, focus will be on invisible "threats" "virus", damn hackers...

Im looking forward to Microsoft making free AV this year, think that will improve situation somewhat. There are millions thinking pc/internet is like tv/gamebox so forget good advice, only way is force - or Microsoft pushing stuff down the throat AV will be optional of course but still, will increase awareness and probably take out some old dusty crappy bundle-AVs. May be even improve on current free options. Not sure it will do much about piracy though, doubtful people with illegal Windows will jump at MS AV. They will have cracked AV with needed firewall already

Game consoles have gotten viruses I believe, but I am suprised that there are not many more....

Cell phones are going to be a problem coming up in a few years..... That will be a pain....

Re: Conficker Apocalypse

Well, I've been keeping a small tab on this thread and an ear out about the Conficker virus. Nothing happened on April Fool's Day because, supposedly, the heat was too high.

This is an article from Yahoo! News: Conficker worm plays no tricks on April Fools' Day by AFP: Yahoo! Tech

It's saying that there is still a huge threat radiating from this virus, that it isn't over yet. On April Fool's Day, the virus merely evolved... I say merely when the word, honestly, doesn't fit. Apparently, it was downloading commands from about 250 websites daily BEFORE HAND. Now, it brings up a list of 50, 000 and gets commands from 500. Harder to track down.

Soooo yea, I guess it looks like the virus creator is somewhere in east Europe. I'm actually quite curious on what exactly this virus does. Eh, with my bad luck, at least one of my computers is already infected.

Good riddance. :]

Re: Conficker Apocalypse

My college has put their network in full alert of it again. Was infected badly with it a couple of weeks ago, and they seemed to have cleared it, but now they've put notices up again about it and wanting people to take their pen drives down to tech support for a scan.

That eye chart is a good little checker too, basic, but clever I guess. Happy all the images show for me

Re: Conficker Apocalypse

Viruses and trojan horses change constantly. Conficker.D is being found. They know about Conficker.A to .C. I just send into CA a new Vundo variant. You have to keep your anti-virus software up to date. Latest version, engine, and signatures.
