Re: Windows Vista SP2 RTM

Microsoft may not have a distribution mechanism in place for it yet, since it is very large. While they work on that, the people who are truly interested in SP2 (such as myself) already have it. It's not earth-shattering, so you should not feel overly anxious to get it. It's mostly a rollup of fixes from the past year and some additional new stuff for emerging technology like Bluetooth 2.1 and that oddball wifi "connect now" thing that I think is totally pointless.

Re: Windows Vista SP2 RTM

I have to say, my machine is running smooth like butter now. Everything is just more responsive.

There definately is more to SP2 then just a bunch of rolled up previously released fixes.

Re: Windows Vista SP2 RTM

Installed from Microsoft Technet yesterday, took a while but seems fine. Can't tell what has changed. Now I'm keeping a lookout for the Technet release of Vista Ultimate with SP2 - the whole shebang. Save me having to slipstream this.

Re: Windows Vista SP2 RTM

I have noticed small things since downloading the RC. Some windows open faster and my machine does seem to work slightly faster.

Re: Windows Vista SP2 RTM

I know that I am not installing the SP2 until it is officially released to consumers. I wont try the RC or the RTM since they are still in Beta phase. Especially with having 64-bit, I dont want to mess things up.

When SP1 was first released as a RC I downloaded it and it was horrible. I had to reformat the PC and when the official consumer release came out everything was fine.

Anyone who finds these on other sites other than microsoft watch yourself, if its not sponsored it might not be stable and might have hidden attacks(viruses/trojans) that you would never know.
