512 MB? What kind of performance do you expect from 512 MB RAM?

Re: windows 7 RC

Hey guys

I haven't posted in a good while. Just had a quick question. If I understand the information on Microsoft.com right, you can just simply install Windows 7 over Vista without any backup. Does that mean you can remove 7 and go back to Vista if you want?

And yes I know a clean install is ideal, but I just don't feel like going through all that right now. I have about a bazillion programs I'd have to reinstall. My programs and OS are on separate partitions so if I reinstall Windows or wipe that Partition, my system no longer knows I have all those programs installed elsewhere. (I wish I could figure out a way around that!)

Re: windows 7 RC

You will need to do a clean reinstall and you can not remove 7 and retain vista later.
I understand that you have lots of programs installed and you will have to do it again. I did the same but believe me friend, Windows 7 RC rocks and i do not have any regret that i had to reinstall all my programs.

Re: windows 7 RC

I know a clean install is best and all that. I did not realize I could not go back to Vista easily though, so I just learned that the hard way.

After posting last night, I ended up installing 7 on my Laptop, which has alot less programs to worry about. However I did not do a clean install. I probably will end up doing one, just didn't have time yesterday. Only problem with using it on my laptop is I have alot less to "Test." On my Laptop I will merely use 7, and not really put it through it's paces with all the applications and hardware my desktop has. It's the system with all the ram, my 64 bit cpu, and my bazillion partioned drives. But for now I can just take Windows 7 for a drive and go from there.

I am having a problem with 7 on my laptop though, my Logitech Bluetooth Mouse wont stay connection. I just reinstalled the setpoint software and now it wont connect at all. I keep "Finding" the mouse, but it never connects and Windows keeps trying to install the device drivers over and over. I'm not sure what to do.

At first the mouse worked during boot up, then stopped 5 minutes in. I thought reinstalling the driver software would help, but it seems it's gotten worse.

Thanks
