I don't like IE at all, and fully support the people who want to have M$ give the option of Browsers at install.

But thats just me. As to what I think it SHOULD have, M$ should take a leaf out of Google's book. Each tab (this goes for Mozilla too) should be its own process, eliminating crashing all tabs.
Security should also be SO MUCH BETTER. It is the LEAST secure browser and I don't use it for that reason (along with clutter).
I think it should have MUCH less clutter when you first use it, and allow you to add it all in a very SIMPLE way. People are stupid, so keep it easy.

Any other ideas?

Re: What do you want to see in IE9?

I have IE8 and Firefox 3.1.0 and all I wanted to do was download IE8 and try it to see if I'd consider switching back over to M$... So far, Firefox seems to have 99.4% of my attention when I'm online. Looks like IE8 will sit there until "9" comes out and makes itself available after listening to those of us having suggestions for improvements. Lordbob, you seem to shed the most light on what I don't want to see (and do) in the next phase of M$ dominance of the online world.

Re: What do you want to see in IE9?

Wow I never expected this much agreement for my post.

Glad some of you agree with me. There is some more good news: FF has an IE plugin, which should eliminate ANY need for ANY IE program!!!!!

Re: What do you want to see in IE9?

I want IE to display the web page, errors and all, not guess at what the page is suposed to look like. And IE shouldn't have any non-compliant 'functions'.

edit:

I have had problems with FF 3 and went back to FF 2.x Firefox. FF shows me the web pages I work on, warts and all. IE guesses what you wanted, and displays that. IE has always been a problem child. I have it, for no other reason than to check what my web sites will look like in IE... however, I haven't used IE to check my sites in several years now.
