A quick search query in all of the 58 Bing regions shows that 12 of them completely block sexual content.

No, but it IS their search engine, and if they want to block anything, they have that right.

Feel free to either:

1) Create your own search engine
2) use a different one.

Re: Bing blocks adult content in 20 percent of regions

It blocks adults, which is my point. And I do use a different search engine.

Some poorly designed blockers also block things like 'breast cancer'. And I don't believe adults have the right to block adults from looking up cancer sites. Microsoft is the one with the problem, not me.

Well here is the deal, the OP stated it blocked sexual content. Sexual content is adult content and it is blocked. Such is life. There are plenty other engines that will spit out enough porn to sink a battleship.

Yes, adults have the right to block other adults. In this land it usually is called the law. So key words such as breast gets tagged and blocked. That was their choice to use this as a tag word. No matter how hard any search engine tries it will not satisfy all.

Re: Bing blocks adult content in 20 percent of regions

Well, no, adults can only block certain kinds of adult material in the US, not all adult material from adults.

If those nations asked Microsoft to block it, well, I guess I don't have a problem with the blocking. But in the US, such blocking is unacceptable.

Myself, I don't use the internet for those purposes. I prefer NASA photos of galaxies.

Actually, they can block anything they want...like I satted earlier, its THEIR search engine...they can block what they want on it, even in the USA. There is no law that says you MUST allow anyone to search for ANYTHING. And, IMHO its perfectly acceptable for them to do with THEIR search engine what they want.

Like I stated earlier, I block certian subjects and disscussions on my forums. Am I censoring it, yup sure am...do I have the right to censor MY forums...yup, does Microsoft have the right to filter searches on THEIR search engine, yup.
