Re: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Beta Overview

Don't worry man. If you're system is working fine, then adding an SP is not too exciting!

Apparently alot of the SP has been given to us already in the form of updates already.

I see you use a gaming mouse - There are some patches, not auto installed, for some game issues, which are available on the MS site - eg that memory.dll error for large RAM cards etc.

If all running smoothly then why fix something that's not broken.

Huh...I didn't know that. Thanks for the update on the gaming mouse. What exactly is the memory.dll error for large RAM cards? My system seems to be running OK with 4 gigs of ram 1G in each memory slot.

However I can't seem to get Medieval II to run without crashing. Very percuilar when it used to work before.

Thanks for the links...I wonder if the first update you posted will solve the graphics driver issue that I am having with the beta nVidia 163.77 drivers.

I completely agree. I hope they just don't rush it. I rather wait for a complete product rather than something that is rushed to appeal to consumers.
The real giggle is: why do we need a service pack when they have updated the software with what was needed??? unless they patch the kernel and change the kernel like they suppose to, i see no reason to do so... keep the updates.. have you noticed that ALL updates have stopped except for definition files for defender??? and does defender run in the background???

Anyways... I rather have good updates all the time than wait for a service pack that fixes all at one time... I want more features that they promised with the ultimate extras.

I agree I have Vista Ultimate x64 and haven't seen anything different then that of the Home Premium version? What gives?

Hi AllTheWay and The Highlander,

You can compare the differences between the two here:

Windows Vista: Compare Editions

I prefer to have updates all the time to instead of waiting for a service pack. What can you do though.
