| | Code 80070490 I have a Vista Ulitmate conected to a domain that is set up to check for updates automatically (default values, no WSUS server). The last couple of weeks I get a message saying that Windows could not search for new updates (followed by the error code above) What can be wrong? I cannot find any useful information about this error code. |

| | Re: Code 80070490 I had this happen to me to for the longest time. Not really sure what i did to fix it, but here's a few things. 1) Flush the dns cache. Open a command prompt and type ipconfig/flushdns. 2) on the bottom of the Windows update screen, does it say "you receive updates: Managed by your system administrator? if so, right below that is a "check online for updates from Microsoft update". I know it seems terribly obvious, but every once in awhile, i still get an error if i just click on the "check for updates" button. But if i click on the check online link, it works. Don't really know why unless it has something to do with domain, policy, or other server settings that I'm not privvy to. | | Re: Code 80070490 Sorry, Tried your suggestions but with no success :-( At "You receive updates" it says - "For Windows and other products from Microsoft Update"... And unfortunately there is no link below for "Check online for updates from Microsoft update". Any other tips? "Mike Klein" wrote: Quote: > I had this happen to me to for the longest time.
