If your screen is odd colors before Windows is even loaded - from the time you actually start your computer - then it is hardware. You can't fix this yourself on a laptop and need to call the laptop mftr.'s tech support for repair/replacement. If the odd colors occur after the operating system is booted, then it is possible the malware is doing this and you don't have hardware issues. Many variants of the Smitfraud trojan will cause your screen to flash and disrupt the Desktop. As for the "win pc doctor", you are most definitely infected with malware. Start by handling this as a Smitfraud infection because of the display issue. Do the preparatory steps here: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware Then do the specific removal steps here: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...itfraud_Trojan - Smitfraud, Spyaxe, Spyfalcon You can also check to see if there are targeted removal steps for your malware here: Bleeping Computer removal how-to's - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum55.html When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the specialty forums listed at the first link above (not here, please). Not all tools used will work in Vista and you will need to run them elevated. Since Vista is so new, it will be a while before removal techniques and tools are developed. If you are unable to remove the infection by following the general steps, register at one of the HijackThis forums as suggested. Standard caveat: If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local version of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be aware that not all local shops are skilled at removing malware and even if they are, your computer may be so infested that Windows will need to be clean-installed. Have all your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User |

| | Re: GENERAL Hi, You have two different issues. 1) You likely have a faulty display adapter. Usually these do not get better and the part will need to be replaced. If the system is under warranty, I would suggest you contact the manufacturer right now. Otherwise, find a reputable technician in your area (not the superstore geek squad, but a real tech). 2) Your system is already infested with malware, the prompts are nothing more than scams designed to lighten the load in your wallet. You can either spend some time cleaning it up, or you can wipe the slate clean and start with a fresh install (depending on the degree of damage, sometimes this is the simpler path). These pages can help in removing the unwanted garbage: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware http://rgharper.mvps.org/cleanit.htm http://www.aumha.org/secure.htm -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "MONAALEX" <MONAALEX@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5E5BDEFC-6519-430C-B49C-5D7895EB27DF@xxxxxx Quote: > HI I have no idea whats wrong with my laptop.
