| | Disk activity on screensaver Vista Premium: Whenever my PC brings up the screensaver, or goes into monitor standby, the disk drive goes nuts - constant activity! This is a very clean machine - just Vista Premium, an antivirus which is not set to run disk scans in the background (Avast), and an photography/art package(Astroart). The machine has been installed for over 10 days so all the file indexing should be completed. Any ideas? |

| | RE: Disk activity on screensaver Turn off the screen saver. There is no reason to have it turned on as you can't get burn in on a up to date monitor unless you have a plasma screen. In fact, the screen savers now a days use more processing power than the computers on the lunar landers did back in the 1970's. If you are really concerned about it, just set the power saver options to power off the monitor after a period of time. |

| | Re: Disk activity on screensaver It was the defrag' routine, and as I have about 2Tb of old data disks connected it did take a good few hours to run. Thanks.
