| Wnidows Vista Premium/ XP | Easycleaner Registry Cleaner on Vista After reading many posts on Vistax64 forums and a few blogs and comments, I decided that Registry Cleaners are no longer needed in Vista. I now believe this and have stopped using EasyCleaner to clean my registry. Now that I've stopped using it, does anyone recommend I undo all the registry cleaning it's done? It provides an "Undo" feature to restore registry keys it deleted, but I'm afraid doing so might render my system unusable, especially since I've installed/uninstalled many programs ever since I first started cleaning my registry. Do you recommend undoing all the cleaning it did and are their possible risks in doing so? Thanks. One more thing, I also registry cleaned using CCleaner. In addition to EasyCleaner, should I restore CCleaners backups of the registry? |

Actually, Registry Cleaners have never been particularly useful on any Microsoft OS, and have always been dangerous to use. | Wnidows Vista Premium/ XP | Re: Easycleaner Registry Cleaner on Vista Thanks Bruce. I'll just leave my system alone then and uninstall my registry cleaners. My computer is running just fine. One more thing, besides defragmenting the computer and cleaning junk (I use ccleaner for this), are there any other tools to use or things to do for maintaining Vista? And also, is should I continue using Auslogics Registry Defragmenter or any registry defragmenter at all? I have it installed and ran it once. Last edited by jim817; 11-24-2007 at 07:51 PM.. |

You don't need to even think about it. There is not one jot of proper, validated evidence published that shows third party defraggers have any advantage over the built one. SteveT |

What about speed? The built in defragger took several hours to do what my third party app did in under 60 minutes. However to be fair, it has been a while since I tried the built in program... |
