Monitor issues with vista and nvidia drivers?

I have the dell 3007fp (30" lcd) and after a few minutes of running my
computer, the desktop gets all messed up (scaling etc?). If I double click
anything, the windows appears empty, i cant right click. I have installed
all the vista patches I know of, updated the bios, video drivers, chipset
etc... If I log off and back in, it works for a few seconds and then messes
up again.

In xp, I have NO video issues at all.... in vista, it takes seconds to screw
up. The desktop becomes unusable. I tried repairing vista, any
recommendations would be appreciated.

Sometimes it says explorer has failed and restarts, then it works for a few
minutes.... other times, it blames the nvidia driver.

Sounds like hardware failure to me. Two or three areas are suspect.
RAM and video hardware.
Processor
Rationale -- Advanced Video functionality tasks the above more heavily.
Recommendation
Run A good RAM test/exerciser program. Microsoft has one available via the
help and support options.
