| | RE: Control Panel Crashes Windows Explorer Yes, I did an upgrade and I have tried to reinstall, but the installation now crashes and I cannot do that. I am now getting a message that says that this is a known problem and will be fixed in the next release. "Frank Bergdoll" wrote: > I am having the same error. | vista | Re: Control Panel Crashes Windows Explorer I have found the solution to this problem: Boot up in safe mode 9keep tapping F8 when the pc's just booting up) then, navigate to windows/system32 then delete a file called cpqikey.cpl This should fix your problem. Though, I've read that there may be other offending .cpl files in the system32 folder. Start with this one though as it certainly did the trick for me. cpqikey.cpl is actually malware, so delete it regardless! |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit. | Re: Control Panel Crashes Windows Explorer Memory dump problems in WindowsXP or Vista. How to fix the Memory dump (Blue Screen) After opening the Control Panel ( Control Panel Access Crash problem ). You have to understand that most Memory dumps occur, when there is a driver that is not compatible with the Windows XP or Vista OS. So make sure your computers drivers, hardware and software are compatible with the OS you are trying either to upgrade or install. Vista is especially prone to incompatibility problems and a Memory Dump will happen. I personally recommend to install a new OS on a blank HD. Upgrades will in most cases take a long a lot of old drivers that will give you problems. Contributed by: webmmaster@philcomp.com |
