Battery Icon disapears in system tray

hello. When I start my laptop I expect that the icon off the battery is in
the system tray. But most of the times it isn't. So I can't see how much
    power my battery has left.
When I go to: properties > system tray (systemicons), there I can click
on: clock - volume - network an energy.
But most of the time I can't click on them. It's really odd.

Can anybody help me with that?

Right click on the Start button, click "Properties". Where it says
"Notification icon", click that tab. On the right click "customize"
and there should be a list of icons with a button at the bottom that
says "restore defaults". Click that that and save the changes. Now
    the power checkbox should work!

    Hope that helps. ~

Right now the checkbox for Power is grayed out while everything else is
checked and fine. I tried unchecking and checking the hide inactive icons and
also went into customize and restored everything to the default setting. I
also restarted the computer but it's still grayed out. Can you help me out?

    Hi Christopher,

The Power icon will not ungray unless your computer is running on battery power or is connected to a compatible backup UPS. If you are, then this will show you how to get it to not be grayed out.
