Hi Trojanmon,

You might see if one of these methods will work for you.

I created a boot disc from lsoft.net since lenovo didn't give me a boot disc. Got the 10 day free trial (which you should buy if this works).

I created a boot disc by following lsoft instructions. then when I restarted my computer using the boot disc it lauched a menu. One menu option (don't remember which) gave me a dos prompt. I then switched to C drive and ran chkdsk /f c:. It told me the drive was locked but gave me the option to dismount the c drive which I did. Chkdsk ran like a champ and fixed my corrupted files. I am now able to run my defrag from diskeeper!

This problem was a royal frustrating pain. Lenovo was no help, but hopefully this works for you.

bjemerson ......cheers dude. that solution worked a treat for me. it's handy to have the boot disk for future chkdsk runs too.

so thanks

RE: chkdsk does not check drive on re-boot

Chkdsk can't check external (USB) hard drives on re-boot and it can't check
more than one drive at a time on re-boot. It needs to be improved.
