Vista - CPU running at 100%

I have an Acer Travelmate 6292 running Vista. When I connect a monitor and
close the lid of the notebook, the CPU jupms to 100% utilisation and the
notebook becomes extremley slow. I have changed the power settings for Lid
Closed to "Do nothing" If I leave the lid a little open, it operates ok. Only
when the lid is virtualy closed does the problem occur.

I would appreciate any advice.

run Task Manager so when you close the lid you can see "maybe" what is using the computer

I ran task manager but when the lid is closed the CPU readings hardly change
despite the total at the bottom of the window showing 100%

On the EZ-Port dock with the lid closed 100% CPU. Task Manager says it "System" 93-98%, NT Kernel & System. Super slow.

I have had to have the lid propped open and now the screen is cracked. Talked to Acer several months ago about this. They are going to get back to me.

Acer have told me that it is a problem relating to Vista. Are your running
Vista ?

When I war running XP the notebook was fine with the lid closed. I have
another user with the same notebook running on XP and he is ok. It looks like
it could be a Vista issue. I will wait for the service pack release and see
if that fixes the problem.
