Vista - Runtime error 216 at 0000308C

whenever I try to open a file with a graphic editor it gives me errors while
browsing folders and crashes after 2 or 3more tries.
There's also an audio editor program that does the same, but goes away as if
I pressed the red cross on the upper right corner of the box when I press
"open" located in "file" on the upper left corner.

I really hope somebody can help me out as it's rather annoying and cannot
carry on wth personal projects anymore.
